Signs that my baby is ready to eat solid food.

Signs that my baby is ready to eat solid food.

When can babies start eating solids? That’s a great question that many parents ask themselves. The answer is: it depends. Some babies are ready to munch on mashed bananas and pureed peas as early as four months, while others may need to wait until six months or later. How can you tell if your baby is ready? Here are some signs to look for:

  • Your baby can hold their head up and sit with support.
  • Your baby shows interest in your food and tries to grab it from your plate.
  • Your baby opens their mouth when you offer them a spoonful of food.
  • Your baby can swallow food without pushing it out with their tongue.

If your baby meets these criteria, congratulations! You can start introducing them to a variety of healthy foods, one at a time, and see how they like them. Remember to always supervise your baby when they eat and offer them plenty of breast milk or formula along with solids. And don’t forget to have fun! Watching your baby explore new tastes and textures is a joyous experience that you will cherish forever.
